Grow Home: Ubisoft demonstrate their creative side

I like to support developers that take a chance, ones that express their creative side away from the standard AAA space of by the books, focused tested nonsense. Ubisoft have taken risks before. Yes they produce Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry, two series that are increasingly homogenous, but they also have taken a number of risks. Valiant Hearts and Child of Light both using the UbiArt engine and exploring non traditional avenues for the company. One title that was announced and released a few short weeks later was Grow Home.

The game features a number of elements from Ubisoft’s other franchises, but combines them in such a way that is interesting, unique and extremely charming. The game sees you play as BUD and you’re tasked with growing a plant from the ground all the way up to the stratosphere and to your space ship, where you’ll take the seeds and scan them for research. You do this by growing, by climbing and by exploring the beautiful world at your own pace. Collecting things and having a great time doing it.
